June 22, 2018 Newsletter

Dear Parents,

We’ve had another busy and exciting week in Room 115!  It’s hard to believe it was our last full week of school!  We have been busy finishing a bunch of projects, many of which went home this week.  The students finished their “Special Days in Kindergarten” books and have been reflecting a lot about all we have learned this year.

We finished our Community Helpers unit and Forces in Motion unit too.  Our technology teachers also helped us with a special Life Cycle of a Butterfly project this that we posted on SeeSaw.  If you haven’t logged in to your child’s SeeSaw account, I would encourage you to give it a try.  There is a lot of work that your child would love for you to see!

One of our biggest accomplishments this week was publishing some of the books we have been writing!  Every student picked one of their stories to publish.  These are also on SeeSaw.  Please check them out!

The students did a great job helping during our Cleaning Day on Tuesday.  We got a lot done!  We want to say a special thank you to Mrs. Tedesco and Mrs. Fragoso for their willingness to help with our Cleaning Day projects!

We are looking forward to our walk to Simonds Park on Monday.  I sent a notice home in your child’s folder but have also included the information below.

We will be walking to Simonds Park on Monday, June 25th and will be spending the day there.  We will provide water and pizza for all the students (all food and drinks are nut free).  You only need to send a lunch if your child cannot have the pizza we are providing. All students should wear sneakers.  No backpacks are needed.

You are welcome to walk with us or meet us at the park.  Younger siblings are also welcome.  We will be leaving the school around 9:30am.  If you plan on joining us at the park, please bring your own picnic lunch.

The buses will pick up the students at Simonds Park at dismissal time.  You are welcome to pick up your child there if you would like.  All students who attend an afterschool program will be dropped off back at the school.

Please DO NOT send in backpacks or folders on Monday.  We ask that you send your child to school with a bagged, disposable nut-free snack and drink.  Also, please be sure to apply sunscreen in the morning before coming to school.

Our last day of school will be this Tuesday, June 26th.  If you have not returned the half-day notice informing us about how your child will be going home from school, please send it back ASAP.  Dismissal is around 11:15am.  Children will be riding home on their morning buses, not on their Kindergarten buses.  This means that they will most likely be dropped off at their morning bus stops instead of at their homes.  If you are picking up your child, please note that the pick up location is not in front of the main office.  It is at the end of the Kindergarten hallway in the front of the school (at the door closest to the flagpole).  Please send your child to school with a backpack and a snack on the last day of school.  We will not be eating lunch at school that day.

Have a great weekend!

Melanie Duncan
